Description
The Riberry has a refreshingly tart, spicy flavour that has a hint of cloves and cinnamon.
The Riberry can be enjoyed on a cheese plater, stirred through Greek yoghurt, squashed over ice cream or eaten raw! Also used to make distinctively flavoured jams, sauces and syrups. Amazing sprinkled on top of cakes or a gin! Riberry can even be infused in vodka to create a magic cinnamon tasting cocktail!
Syzygium luehmannii or small-leaved Lilly Pilly, is a medium-sized to large tree which grows mainly in littoral and sub-tropical rainforest on the east coast of NSW and Southern Queensland. It was one of the first edible plants to be noted during Captain Cook’s visit to Australia in 1770. It’s also reported to be one of the first fruits consumed as jam or cordials by early colonists of Australia.
Riberry has high levels of folate and antioxidants and a very good source of calcium.
