Quandong is also known as Australia's wild or desert peach. The taste is tart and tangy.

Quandong is used in products such as jams, preserves, sauces, relishes, juices, deserts, ice cream and of course, a quandong pie!

For convenience, 30gm of dried Oz Tukka quandong reconstitutes to approx 180gm when soaked in water. 

Quandong are shiny, bright scarlet fruits hat are about 2cm in diameter and contains one large nut or kernel, which is sometimes only marginally smaller than the fruit. Quandong has a wide natural distribution throughout southern Australia from arid desert areas to coastal regions.

It was an important native food source for Aboriginal Australians across semi-arid and arid regions in the mainland states, with surplus fruit collected and dried for later consumption. Amongst the male members of Central Australia’s Pitjantjatjara people, quandongs were considered a suitable substitute for meat.

Santalum acuminatum has outstanding anti-oxidant capacity, high levels of folate and vitamin E, and is a good source of magnesium, zinc and iron.
